Bart Turtelboom is an emerging markets economist with extensive experience in strategic leadership and complex financial transactions. As Director at Promethean, he leads the company’s strategic vision and decision-making. Over the course of his career, this emerging markets economist has worked on several groundbreaking transactions, including the first deal involving Russian Paris-Club debt, the largest Eurobond denominated in Mexican peso, innovative currency hedging transactions in Turkey, and multi-billion USD lending facilities in the CIS.

He began his career at the International Monetary Fund, where he published widely on international monetary policy, including research on interest rate liberalization in Africa and the relationship between tax collection and monetary policy in Brazil.

He later joined Deutsche Bank’s emerging market group and then Morgan Stanley’s emerging markets group, where he became global co-head of emerging markets sales and trading and head of Morgan Stanley’s Emerging Markets Capital Market Group in Europe. Bart Turtelboom earned his PhD in Economics from Columbia University and currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
